The Perfect Mushrooming Pack

The mushrooms rarely grow right on the trail, and a lot can happen off of it. Like all woodsy adventures it pays to have a set of items for comfort and/or emergencies in your pack at all times.

Everything that permanently lives in my pack

Depending on your bag, you may find that the sides put unwanted pressure on your delicate mushrooms. Adding a cardboard or plastic box to hold the shape can protect your delicious little morsels.

This box has protected my soggy Chanterelles for many seasons, use what you have!

Your pack should also include trip specific gear, such as:

A detailed map of the area you plan to hunt

A way to communicate should you get stuck, a phone or GPS texting device

Non-smelly snacks sufficient for your journey
