Blewit

What we commonly refer to as Blewit is actually a collection of a few similar species that feature shades of lilac, grey, and brown.  There are a surprising number of purplish mushrooms in the PNW, some are likely not named and those that do have names are often currently under debate.  The key to accurately identifying the Blewit is the spore print, in addition to it's other visible features.  Blewit's have pale pink spores that I think are best captured on tin foil.  Blewits, like all foraged mushrooms, should be cooked thoroughly before eating to avoid gastrointestinal distress.  Never eat a mushroom without following every step of the safer eating process.
