This prolific mushroom can only be eaten when young, to ensure the right age and identification always cut each mushroom in a vertical cross-section to ensure the insides are completely white and there is no sign of the immature cap and gills of an Amanita mushroom

off-white and covered in short spiny bumps or warts when young, develops a brown centered dot in maturity

when present thick, short and tapered. white when young, darkening to brownish in maturity
brown spores will puff out of a hole in the top center of the cap when mature
